Your fire pump decides whether the rest of the system has water when it matters. When it fails, it fails quietly, and nobody finds out until a test or a fire. We test, inspect, service and repair commercial fire pumps with our own equipment and our own techs, and the team that finds a problem is the team that fixes it.

Testing without repair
is half a job.

Most pump problems aren't pump problems. They're follow-through problems. A testing company runs the test, emails a PDF, and the deficiency it found is still there a year later because the repair belonged to somebody else.

What the code requires

NFPA 25 · Owner responsibility

NFPA 25 puts the responsibility for a working fire pump on the property owner, not on the contractor and not on the AHJ. The cadence is tiered: routine checks measured in weeks and months, a full flow test every year, and records the fire marshal can ask to see. Most fire code surveys ask for three to five years of ITM history.

That's the part building owners get caught by. A pump that runs isn't the same as a pump that passes, and a pump that passed two years ago isn't evidence of anything today. If you're not sure where your building stands, start with the NFPA 25 schedule builder and we'll work backward from there.

Straight answers

How often does a commercial fire pump have to be tested?

NFPA 25 sets a tiered schedule: frequent routine checks, then a full flow test every year. Your AHJ enforces it and can ask for several years of records. If you don't know when your pump was last tested, that's the first thing we'll establish.

Do you test electric and diesel fire pumps?

Yes. Both, including the controller, the driver, the batteries or fuel system, and the start and transfer sequences that decide whether the pump actually runs when it's called.

What happens if our pump fails its test?

You get a clear finding, a quote and a repair from the same team that ran the test, then a retest and documentation of the correction. You're not left holding a report and a phone list.

Do you bring your own test equipment?

Yes. We test with our own equipment, so scheduling doesn't depend on a rental window or a third party.

Can you service a pump you didn't install?

Yes. Most of the pumps we service were installed by somebody else, including older equipment in buildings that have changed hands more than once.

How fast can you get out for a pump that won't start?

Call us. An impaired pump is an emergency, and you'll get a straight answer on timing on that call. Not a callback tomorrow.
