Fire Protection Installation for Food Processing Facility
This project encompassed a 170,000-square-foot food processing facility and required a complex fire protection system to meet a range of occupancies, including Light Hazard, Ordinary Group II, High Piled Storage, and IIIB Flammable Liquid Storage.
The installation included four wet pipe systems, one dry pipe system, a 128,000-gallon ground storage water tank, and a 2,000-gpm diesel engine–driven fire pump capable of delivering 150 psi. Over the 10-month duration, a total of 2,250 sprinkler heads were installed.
A key portion of the work involved protecting 40,000 square feet of insulated metal ceilings, utilizing pendent sprinklers with gasketed concealed plates to ensure proper coverage and protection.
