HSI-Certified CPR Training in Memphis

HSI-Certified CPR Training. Built In-House at Ironsmith Fire.

Fire protection is our trade. Protecting people is the standard behind it.

Ironsmith Fire runs its own CPR training program out of Memphis, certified through the Health & Safety Institute (HSI). We built it in-house so we control the quality, the schedule, and who gets trained.

Why CPR Training Belongs on a Fire Protection Crew

Cardiac emergencies don’t wait. The first few minutes decide the outcome.

Our crews are on jobsites across Memphis every week, working in active construction, occupied buildings, and industrial environments. The same people who install life-saving systems should also know how to keep someone alive until the paramedics arrive. That isn’t an extra. That’s the job.

What HSI Certification Means

The HSI is a standalone, nationally recognized certification body. Their standards are used by fire departments, EMS programs, and major employers across the country. Our crews train and certify under those same standards.

Coverage includes:

  • Adult CPR (compression technique, depth, rate)
  • Rescue breathing and airway management
  • AED operation and placement
  • Hands-on scenario practice using our own equipment

Every participant has to demonstrate the skills to certify. No video pass. No box check.

How the Program Has Run So Far

We held our first in-house session last month in Memphis. Fourteen Ironsmith Fire team members certified, using our equipment, our space, and our trainers.

Last week, we ran our first session for a crew from another company. Same program, with the same standards. They came to us, and their team walked out HSI-certified the same day.

Why In-House Matters

Most companies outsource this kind of training. We didn’t.

Building it in-house means new hires can certify the moment they come on board, not when a third-party class has an open seat. Recertifications run on our cycle, not someone else’s. And the training stays consistent with how we run jobs, document our work, and back our crews.

Craftsmanship Beyond the Pipe

We talk about craftsmanship a lot, and for good reason. It shows up in the systems we design and install. It shows up in how we document and inspect our work. Now it shows up in how we train our team to respond when life is on the line.

A crew that can protect property and protect life is a different kind of crew to have on your project.
